Visiting Instructor-Lineman Program


Primary Duties

Duties include teaching 15-16 credit hours of the currently approved classes of the Pre-Apprentice Lineman Program at Highlands.  Classes consist of classroom lectures in addition to utilizing hands-on technical applications of the lecture material.  The successful candidate must have the ability to advise students in the use the equipment and materials specific to the Lineman Program.  Must maintain a safe, clean and functional indoor classroom and laboratory as well as the pole yard and all equipment.  Actively promote the Lineman Program, recruit students and work with local and regional schools and industries.  Will also have campus responsibilities to include, but not limited to advising students, campus and advisory committees.  Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as computer skills.





  • Must be a Journeyman Lineman and have a valid and current Montana class A CDL.
  • Must be qualified with pole top rescue, bucket rescue and safety practices within the electrical trade. 
  • Must have a clean safety record.
  • Must be able to work in variable weather conditions. 
  • Must be able to climb poles as well as other structures. 
  • Must be able to operate equipment used in the Lineman trade such as bucket trucks, line trucks, and backhoes.   
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer skills.


  • Teaching experience is a plus with the ability to work with up to 25 students per semester that have limited knowledge of the line trade at any given time.
