The Lineman Position is responsible for completing the line work and craft work necessary for underground and overhead electric distribution. This includes setting of electrical equipment, hot work, splicing, terminating, pulling cables and switching as well as ability to recognize hazards associated with line work. Pole climbing may be required. Confers with Field Supervisor to coordinate daily work schedule. Represents CLP, Inc. in a professional and ethical manner at all times. Assigns duties to subordinates, and supervises, inspects, assists and instructs Apprentice Lineman or laborers as necessary. Assists the Field Supervisor in the training and instruction of Apprentice lineman. Ensures that all equipment, vehicles and tools are properly accounted for, used, and maintained. Confers with supervisory personnel to discuss construction problems and improve methods. Must adhere to all safety regulations, and report any violations to the field Supervisor or other member of management. Must have current Commercial Driver’s License and comply with all Company, State, and Federal regulations governing commercial vehicle operation. Required to travel to various site locations on limited notice. Position is 5 day work week, 40-50 hours and on call as needed.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Knowledge of overhead and underground power construction, maintenance and repair, and the necessary tools, materials and equipment necessary to perform these operations. Must have valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A). Must be a United States Citizen. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Additional formal or occupational education focused on electrical services and construction is helpful. Must be able to get required clearance for access to an active military post.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces. Must be able to move freely, including ability to stoop, crawl, and bend at the knees and waist. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds unassisted. Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing. May be required to work long and unpredictable hours. Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather.
