POSITION PAYS $16-$20 PER HOUR
The Safety/Risk Team Member works in collaboration with other auditors under the supervision of the Safety Manager and Risk Management Manager to assist with a variety of safety-related tasks including, though not be limited to: weekly safety meetings for employees, safety reviews of work being performed in the field and investigation of work place incidents and accidents, as well as, recommendations related to revisions, additions or deletion of work practices and procedures. Additionally, the Safety/Risk Team member will participate in drafting, editing and producing items related to investigations, on-site job audits, and training.
To effectively work going forward in this position, individuals must possess strong mechanical, mathematical and scientific aptitude, as well as basic, or greater experience with various aspects of the electrical utility system. Must be able to fluently read, write, speak and comprehend English. Individuals should possess and be able to demonstrate the ability to instruct others in new or revised methods of carrying out basic through advanced mechanical or skill-related complex tasks. Additionally, to be strong considered individuals must possess at least moderately advanced skills with computer hardware and software skills (word-processing, data-base, numerical and e-mail), an enthusiasm for emerging technology and its use in the workplace; at least moderately advanced communications skills (both orally and in writing, with individuals and with groups up to senior managers); strong problem solving skills; and a high level of emotional maturity (as demonstrated by the ability to accept critical feedback without defensiveness, willingness to accept personal responsibility for errors, the desire to continually grow personally and professionally, and the ability to work through conflict effectively). Finally, individual must work well, and make basic decisions under pressure. Individual must be willing to work varying hours, which at times will include nights, weekends, holidays, and be open to work out of the Dallas/Fort Worth area (with little or no notice). Based on the nature of work at Standard Utility, even if not driving company vehicles, all employees are required to have a valid Texas Driver License in good standing throughout their employment with us.
Experience in utilities, or other mechanical or technical trade or profession; willingness and ability to pass industry-related safety certifications within 12-18 months); and past experience explaining or training individuals on moderately to advanced technical tasks and processes. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) of increasing preference based on internal and external demands.
Must be able to stand for periods of time on varied surfaces. Must be able to move freely, including ability to stoop, crawl, and bend at the knees and waist (while on field training assignments). Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted. Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing. May be required to work long and unpredictable hours. Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather from time to time.
