POSITION PAYS $18-$20 PER HOUR

 

Job Description:

 

This position, while designed to be primarily Monday-Friday. As such the incumbent will typically work approximately 40-45 hours per week. However, no amount of hours is guaranteed. The hours worked will be those demanded by the work necessary to accomplish specified department objectives. Hours in excess of 40 per seven day work week will be paid at time and one-half AND are to be authorized in advance by the Training Manager. The primary hours for the position are 7:30am-4:00pm, including a thirty minute meal period each day. However, as a result of the work performed by Standard Utility the incumbent will be in a rotation to be available to respond to after hours, through the night incidents involving Standard Utility employees. Either or both may involve work in extreme weather. Further, as requested by the Training Manager, the incumbent will very likely be asked to assist with Department-related tasks during either storm restoration work, or other Standard Utility work out of the DFW metropolitan area, with or without notice.

 

Position Summary – An incumbent is responsible for the carrying out safety related tasks as directed by the Training Manager. Such tasks will include, though not be limited to:

 

• Reviews employee work processes in field settings

 

• Assistance with the verification of work task competence

 

• Assistance with the research, development and presentation of employee safety meetings

 

• Assistance with incident investigations

 

• Assistance with completion of production tasks in storm restoration or other unusual circumstances

 

• Collaboration with other Standard Utility employees to produce specified results

 

• Assistance with other safety, or learning related tasks as requested

Based on the nature of work at Standard Utility, even if not driving company vehicles, all employees are required to have a valid Texas Driver License in good standing throughout their employment with us.

 

 

 Preferred Requirements:

 

 Desired Experience – The incumbent for this position will, ideally, have experience, education, training or a combination of the three in at lease the following areas:

 

• Experience with a wide variety of electrical utility tasks and settings, preferably including both primary and secondary voltages in the underground and overhead settings (or both)

 

• Experience effectively facilitating and leading meetings involving individuals at various levels in an organization, including, though not limited to at least mid-level, exempt managers

 

• Experienced participating in the design, development and implementation of employee training programs

 

• OSHA, NFPA, NEC and other applicable Safety regulations and professional standards

 

• Incident investigation procedures, including interviewing individuals involved in incidents

 

• Conflict resolution (both internal and external)

 

• At least basic use of computer hardware and software (word-processing, numerical and e-mail)

 

• Work in a fast-paced, intense environment

 

 

 Physical Requirements:

 

 Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing. May be required to work long and unpredictable hours.
