Just found this site. It's Great! My husbands an apprentice in So. Cal. He's been trampin for year and 1/2. The boys (3 yrs. & 18 mos.) and I joined him about 6 months ago. Been looking for site for trampin wives to meet up but have found nothing. I'm in the process of putting one together myself on 20m.com but I would love some feedback from other wives. I love the poem Lineman Wife and would love to get in touch with that wife too. I didn't have a chance to read all the posts but noticed a few from some wives. You can post here or reach me at jlkgfam@hotmail.com.

Remember to use the only tool you really have at all times, your Brain!!! Stay safe all.

Hi Jimmy, heard you were south bound when I was in Rothesay 3 weeks ago. Didn't get a chance to talk to you though. Kenny C told me yesterday (Thursday) that you were done here and they were having a farewell party for you tonight. Anyway, I am almost complete the Immigration process to head south. All that is left is the interview in Montreal. Hope to be in Florida by the end of June or shortly there after. Good luck and best wishes Jim. Work safe down there. Well I am Virginia bound but I will have to say that I am a dual citizen and that more than anything got me my job as many employers will no longer sponser Canucks for a Working Visa or Resident Alien Visa. You will find that you have to get all your documents ready before you even apply, which is quite costly. I just cruised through the Lineman sites that post job offerings and sent out emails with resumes and cover letters. I hope this helps. I think the only company left that sponsers may and I do say may, is FP&L in Florida. Stay safe and use you Brain, the only true tool you can use all the time.

As for the boots, Royer make the best steel toe puncture proof boot period. Double shank soles and 10k pound crush resistant toe and they are factory tested for 10Kv. To the Brown guy talking about Canadians, man we are all just trying to amke a living doing what we all love best. I for one am a Canuck that is south bound to the middle east coast states and am very happy to do so. If you are worried about Canadians going to work in your area, maybe you haven't been working to your full potential. This is a great site and hope to see you all on here. Crossphase, hang in there bud, as I have busted up a knee and after getting it fixed up, it is just as good as new except that the cold and wet lets me know it is coming. Stay safe all and work with the best tool you possess, that is your Brain!!!Take care all,

February 08, 2001 08:33:02 PM
Posted by: Danielle
Hi everyone. I work for a market assessment firm, and we have someone with a technology that will cause guy wires to break away when struck by a vehicle. This will allow the utility pole to continue standing instead of being dragged down. My question is - Does anyone have any information at all, statistics, namely, on automobile accidents involving guy wires?? We are trying to gauge whether there is a need for something like this, but we are so far coming up empty-handed with any information. I would also like to find a site that explains exactly what guy wires do, and what happens if they are struck. Anyone who has any info. or suggestions, please contact me at danielle.duclos@seeport.com. Thanks very much!!

I had a crash like that,in'65.Mine was my left leg in the middle of my shin bone.In fact both bones were broke right off. They put in a rod from my knee to my ankle, down the middle of the shin bone.I was walking around in about two months. After 5 months I took a job driving truck to strengthen up my leg. After 2 mos. of that I went back to climbing.I never had any real problems, and I just retired last Aug.I wish you the best of luck, keep us posted on your progress.Eric

So nice to see so many linemen using this site. In answer to (wantabe) Electrician's question, yes, any extra shooling you can get is helpfull, but I'm sure you already know that. If you really want to be a wood walker, don't give up to soon. Check with a local union in your area, they should be able to help you. Everyone take care. Work it safe. Goody

I expect to climb again, but wonder if it will suck as I get older. Work safe all and I'll be thinkin of ya while I'm sittin here when it's 10 below. I gotta have some bright side to this!

Crescent City is located on the Northern California coast 20 south of the Oregon border. Great fishing ocean and fresh water. It is a good place to live not to expensive. It rains a lot here more inches than Seattle but less often, 3 months in the winter pretty heavy. It does not get real hot or real cold. We have a real safe bunch of guys here we work more overhead than underground. We do not glove above 4kv hotstick everything else. We work 1 crew most of the time. We have 8 Journeyman lineman 2 of the 8 are serviceman/troubleshooters. We want some guys that want to come and stay in the area. I am not posting this for the company I am posting it for our work force. We need some good help. The company said they would let us help interview the next lineman they hire.
