Hot-Line work and techniques

I'm not a lineman, but a labourer for a utility in Canada. I've taken some rubber glove training through work and sometimes do some system grounding test work on our 4kV and 25kV systems. My question is what sort of techniques are used for the maintenance of the higher voltage systems (ie: >25kV). What sort of protective devices/techniques are used, and is there a website that describes some of these techniques.I ask because the transmission maintenance department of the utility is based in another city, and there is a group of them who are responsible for all of the transmission maintenance, and the linemen here don't know about anything but 25kV stuff.
